Description

The 10Hr+ integration was pieced together over three months during the summer of 2023 from North Yorkshire.
I imaged every available minute of clear skies.
And to think that some people have the audacity to say that it's grim up North.

If the image works at all it is because it was shot at f2 and with the incredibly clean ASI2600MM.

This region is sometimes referred to as the little Veil nebula, and for good reason as in Ha the resemblance is uncanny with analogues of the
Witch's Broom and Pickering's triangle. In truth, there is nothing "little" about G65.3+05.7 roughly subtending as it does twice the angle of the Veil itself which subtends ~2 degrees. G65.3+05.7 is certainly much fainter than the Veil which combined with its size makes G65.3+05.7 a real challenge to image.G65.3+05.7 is located a distance of about 2500 light years from Earth.

Estimates of when the progenitor star of G65.3+05.7 underwent a supernova explosion range from tens of thousand to hundreds of thousands years ago.
G65.3+05.7 is an example of a super shell or bubble - typically a few hundred light years across - formed by successive supernovae. Indeed
our solar system sits inside such a structure, the Local Bubble.

SH2-92, visible  in the lower right of the image, sits roughly 14,000 light years away. The bright emission in this case is produced mainly by a Wolf Ryat star (WR 127) situated towards its centre.
